NBA weekend wrap-up, AZ Cards draft report card

While I didn’t get to see half the games on TV this weekend, what I did see was killer! I was lucky enough to catch pretty much all of the Bull-Celtics game. 2 OT thrilla!!! I loved it. I was even more impressed Chicago pulled out the win. Good work! I also feel good for Vinnie Del Negro. Go get ‘em Vinnie!!! The Celtics miss Garnett badly. Sorry to say- w/o KG the Celtics are in deep shit. They will be fortunate to escape this series unscathed.

Who’d-a-thunk? Dallas? One minute they’re battling for the 8 seed, then suddenly they get all the way up to 6, and the next moment they’re up 3-1 on a tough Spurs team. Fuckin’ amazing to me… Two words- Rick Carlisle. Another coach I wish we had in Phx! Ricky!!!?? Phx rules, man. Come have some fun in the sun! Never happen. sucks

In Utah, Kobe simply took over. End of story. Lakers lead 3-1.

LeBron and the Cleveland Cavaliers look unstoppable! Cavs sweep Pistons 4-0. (ouch)

The other great game I saw most of was the Rockets-Blazers. Back and forth battle the whole way with Houston just outplaying Portland in the 4th quarter to take a 3-1 lead. Houston looks very, very good in the West to me. Yao has so much presence, everyone else plays their role. Excellent team basketball last night, BTW. My hat goes off to Rick Adleman. Now there’s a damn good NBA coach!!! Wanna come to Phx? Probably not now… I fully expect Houston to win this series. Now 3-1 that looks like a foregone conclusion. Next?

AZ CARDINALS

So far I think the Cardinals picked well in the NFL draft. They addressed crucial needs at RB and LB early in the draft. Good job, fellas! I give them a B+!

Finally I (and you) can talk about sports in an uncensored format. I get tired of reading articles by washed up sports writers with no ambition, no angle, and no flavor. Its not entirely their fault, I’m sure. They have to obey ‘the rules’. Too bad for them…

ARIZONA CARDINALS

Since I live in Phx, AZ– lets start out local. Word is the AZ Cardinals are shopping star WR Anquan Boldin big time. Apparently Cards front office and Q’s new agent aren’t at the negotiating table at all. My question- why the fuck not?! AZ’s offense won’t be the same without the potent double threat of both Fitzgerald AND Boldin. No slight to Steve Breston- he’s a fine receiver, but Boldin is DOMINANT. He’s like a freak of nature, like Shannon Sharpe used to be. The guy was almost killed last year at the end of a game against the Jets, and came back a couple weeks later. No big deal. Letting go of Anquan is a big mistake in my view. Who are you going to get in return? Save Q!

PHOENIX SUNS

What a dismal year. I hate to say ‘I told you so’, but I will anyway. I fuckin’ told you!!!!!!! Several fuck ups happened before ever getting to the 2008-2009 season. First, the Shaq for Marion trade. While I like Shaq, and he performed great this year, still not the right move for this team. Next, the D’Antoni debacle. Stupid to the infinite power! The Suns were born to run, and D’Antoni knew exactly how to get the most out these guys. Phx’s loss is NY’s gain. You’re welcome Knickerfuckers. Remember, the Suns have been perenial championship contenders quite a few years in a row. Until this year… D’Antoni should have remained coach at least one more year. Next, hiring Terry Porter as the new head coach. My first response to hearing the news- You gotta be fuckin’ kidding me! My personal disdain for Porter comes from the years when he was the point guard for the Portland Trailblazers. They had some good teams and put a few daggers in the hearts of our home town Phx Suns. The other reason I didn’t like the idea of Porter being the coach of the Suns is because I know he sucks as a head coach. Milwuakee had terrible teams under Porter and he was justifiably fired by them. Suns general manager, Steve Kerr and Porter are buddies, so he got the job after D’Antoni was railroaded out of town. What a crock of shit… Final fuck up- trading Borris Diaw AND Raja Bell for Jason Richardson. J-Rich is an excellent player with outstanding athletic ability, but worth it? idunno. Honestly, the jury is still out on this one. We may never really know because Kerr is probably considering trading Richardson at this very moment. Scary. It appears the Suns team will be blown up in favor of a youth movement. Phoenix is one of the oldest teams in the NBA with guys like Nash, Shaq, and Grant Hill in the starting line-up. I love those guys, but they’re all past their prime. Grant Hill may have discovered the Fountain of Youth though. Hey G– tell me your secret! I guess we’ll see what insanity gets conjured up this off-season. God help us in Phx
